Bangladesh are under pressure at the end of day three (Friday, 30 October) of the first Test against the West Indies at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The hosts closed their second innings on 79 for 6, with a total lead of 106 runs including the 27-run first-innings advantage. Jaker Ali and Naim Hasan were both unbeaten on 18 at stumps.

West Indies captain Roston Chase was the chief architect of Bangladesh's batting collapse, taking 3 wickets for just 25 runs with his off-spin. Jomel Warrican claimed 2 for 19 as Bangladesh's top order crumbled.

Bangladesh lost five wickets for only 35 runs. First-innings centurion Sadman Islam made 13, Towhid Hridoy 2, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto 10, Liton Das 4 and Mehidy Hasan Miraz 9, while opener Tanzid Hasan was dismissed for a duck.

Earlier, Bangladesh posted 272 in their first innings, built around Sadman's 105, with Warrican taking 5 for 53. In reply, the West Indies were bowled out for 245, with Chanderpaul (56), Campbell (54) and Greaves (46) the main contributors, while Naim Hasan took 4 wickets to give Bangladesh a 27-run lead.

Mominul Haque dropped an easy catch of Chase during the day, a miss that proved costly as Chase later destroyed the batting lineup with the ball. Play ended early due to bad light. The fourth day's play is today, Saturday, with Bangladesh resuming on a 106-run lead with four wickets in hand.
